Culture

A boutique studio,
on purpose.

We could be bigger. We choose not to be. Six senior people doing focused work for six clients at a time — that is the studio. Here is what that actually looks like.

Six values that decide everything else

When we disagree internally, these are the tiebreakers.

Senior IC only

Every engineer has 8+ years of shipping experience. No juniors hidden offshore, no resource pyramid. The person on your kickoff call is the person writing the code.

Cut scope, not corners

We will refuse work whose scope we cannot ship well. Better to deliver three crisp features than ten half-baked ones. We say no to projects that are not a fit — and we say so on the first call.

Evidence over opinion

Decisions are backed by evals, dashboards, or user interviews. Strong opinions are fine; strong opinions without evidence get gently challenged.

Boring tools, ambitious work

We use proven stacks (Next.js, Postgres, AWS) on hard problems, not exotic stacks on easy ones. Boring tools free us to focus on the parts that actually matter — your domain.

Default to docs

Every decision lives in a written ADR. Every prompt template is version-controlled. Every system has a runbook. If it is not written, it did not happen.

Ship < perfection

A working prototype Friday beats a flawless plan Monday. We ship in week one and iterate. The bar for "shipped" is "real users used it" — not "QA signed off".

How that translates day to day

Concrete commitments, not platitudes.

Four-day work weeks

Monday to Thursday. We close on Fridays for deep work, learning, or rest — your choice. Has not affected delivery once in three years.

Remote-first, async-default

Six cities, six time zones. Most work happens async in writing. Meetings are for decisions, not status. Status goes in the dashboard.

Two hires a year, deliberately

We grow slowly because we want every engineer to have meaningful ownership. Hiring slows growth — that is the point.

No bench, no upselling

We do not have idle engineers we need to staff onto your project. If we say yes, it is because the right person is genuinely available.

Fixed-price prototypes

We absorb the risk of estimation. Scope changes mid-build go through a written change order. No "discovery phase invoice creep".

Pause anytime

Retainers can pause with 2 weeks notice — no lock-in, no penalty. If the value is not there, you should not be paying.

Hiring quietly. Two people a year.

We hire senior IC engineers (8+ years), one or two a year, against a real need on a real engagement. We do not bench-hire. We do not run a referral funnel. We read every application and reply within two weeks — yes or no.

If you are senior, remote-first, and want to do focused work for ambitious teams without being staffed onto two projects at once — write to us.
